  5. known for his analysis of literary archetypes, Anatomy of
  6. Criticism; in Toronto. Frye first made his mark in 1947 with
  7. Fearful Symmetry, his pioneering study of the English Romantic
  8. poet William Blake. In literature, Frye contended, the
  9. recurrence of such common images as the sea or the forest can
  10. be understood only as archetypes connecting one poem with
  11. another, thus integrating our reading.
